SMH underground mining systems feature the most significant technical advances in over 40 years by offering Link-Belt® conveyors, energy efficient electric drives, as well as terminal and power transmission components. Keep your systems at maximum efficiency with service and reliability second to none.
Adam Coward, Syntron application engineer, worked to supply the end user with a new brake system that used the latest smart breaking technology. The new solution is used on two downhill longwall panel conveyors. Each conveyor is approximately 14,500 feet long with 725 feet of drop from tail to head. The 54-inch-wide conveyor belt is driven by two 300 HP regenerative ABB VFD’s while operating at a speed of 630 feet per minute to move 1200–1800 tons per hour of coal. The conveyor required up to 70,000 ft. lbs. of braking torque when extended to full length. The target stopping time was 35 seconds. The conveyor layout was non-traditional since it is a panel conveyor and the tail is being moved regularly. “Typically, the brake would be installed on the tail pulley, but in this case, the mine’s preferred brake position was toward the head end of the conveyor,” according to Coward. “This configuration required a very smooth, gentle stopping ramp to minimize belt tensions during shutdown. Also, since it was an underground installation, the brake disc diameter was required to be relatively small because there was limited space to work.”
The Syntron vibrating feeders are designed to increase bulk handling productivity with high feed rates.
Syntron Material Handling vibrating screens have long been an industry leader with over 85 years of proven Link-Belt and Syntron vibrating technology experience. We offer horizontal and inclined screening technology within the aggregate, cement, chemical process, mining, industrial, and food related industries. Our engineering and application specialists can offer an efficient and dependable solution for all your scalping, classifying, and dewatering applications.
With thousands of units installed over the past 80 year, Syntron heavy-duty electromagnetic feeders are one of the most recognized names in the industry. These feeders are capable of handling a variety of materials from fine powder to large, coarse particles and we offer models with ranging capacities from 25 to 1,600 tons per hour. We offer various configurations including:
Controls by Syntron Material Handling offer a range of optional functions for specific control and requirements.
Choose from a wide range of belt conveyor idlers and parts for above-ground and underground applications.
Because power transmission affects the performance, cost, and reliability of conveying systems, Syntron Material Handling pairs Link-Belt drives with state-of-the-art controls to deliver outstanding control and reliability for starting, running, and stopping conveyor belts. Each underground control system is custom designed to meet specific operating requirements and environments. Link-Belt controls provide value through technology. Whether the requirements are a simple control system or a complex automated information system, we’ll provide a custom solution to meet your needs.
Electromagnetic, rotary electric or pneumatic models maintain free flow of bulk materials from bins, hoppers, and chutes. We offer effective, efficient product flow solutions for most industry applications and environments.
Link-Belt winches are designed to work in conjunction with our belt storage and take-up units providing:
SMH offers belt storage units combined with our electric constant tension winches to provide ample belt storage capacity while maintaining proper belt tension. Single or multiple lap configurations are available.
Link-Belt drives provide the energy needed to move a loaded conveyor belt throughout the length of the system. Drives consist of pulley skids, power modules, and electrical controls.
When you need one of the best dewatering screens in the industry, think Syntron Material Handling. All screens are performance engineered for efficient, dependable operation. For this underground coal application, the screen will be used to transition material from one belt to another. Water will be removed as the coal travels from below ground to the surface.
Discharge and transfer sections are an integral part of an effective conveying system, providing a discharge or transfer point at the “head end” of the conveyor belt, to another belt, stockpile, or bin.
Link-Belt rigid channel structure allows for larger volumes of tonnage using heavier conveyor construction materials. Both floor mounting and roof hung are available using 3" - 6" channel as required.
